Manual Therapy (Manipulative and Mobilisation techniques)
Manual therapy involves the treatment of various orthopedic conditions by the use of a physiotherapist’s hands. This may include therapist-assisted stretches, joint mobilisations (glides within joint), local soft tissue massage and acupressure to reduce pain and stiffness.
Manipulation is used to release locked and painful joints allowing normal alignment and function. It’s a high velocity, low amplitude thrust at a specific joint level.
Myofascial Release
The therapist applies mild sustained pressure to gently stretch and soften the fascia/connective tissues. It is often used to treat neck and back pain, sports injuries and other muscular induced pain
Exercise Therapy
A customised individualised exercise program can be created for your needs. We aim to help you get better and reduce the recurrence of injury or pain.

Strengthening and Toning with Power Plate
Vibration Technology concept was first developed for the Soviet cosmonauts to combat the weakening effects of zero gravity conditions in space. It stimulated the body’s natural response to vibration. The vibration energy waves transmitted throughout the body activates muscle contraction between 25-5- times per second. Power plate allows you to accomplish a 1 hour workout in a 20 minute session. Come to Kinesis to experience it for yourself.
Cranio-sacral therapy
Lots of people are asking “what is craniosacral therapy?” Besides our heart rhythm and our respiratory rhythm, Dr Sutherland (1900) discovered another rhythm called the craniosacral rhythm. The craniosacral rhythm is a rocking motion between the occiput (base of the head) and the sacrum (tail bone). The rocking motion helps the liquid surrounding our neural system to circulate and to nourish it. Locating the points of tension, we are able to hold and release the tensed area, helping the body to unwind itself. Craniosacral therapy is for those who have pain due to tension in their body, and it is gentle enough for children as well as the elderly.

Post operative Rehabilitation
Early rehabilitation after a surgery is essential in improving the outcome and achieving a speedy recovery. Post-op rehabilitation has to take into consideration wound healing, minimizing scar tissue adhesion, early restoration of muscle function and range of motion. At Kinesis, specialised exercise programs will be designed and taught by our physiotherapists allowing you to return to activities that you enjoy.
Neck/Back Traction
Traction is usually used for conditions such as slipped ‘discs’, spondylosis. It helps to increase the intervertebrae space and relieve the pressure on the disc thereby relieving the pressure on the nerve. It also has a stretching effect on the muscles and ligaments.
Ultrasound/Interferential/Shortwave Diathermy
Electrotherapy devices are usually used in conjunction with manual therapy for optimal results. They are used to reduce pain and inflammation as well as promote healing. Ultrasound as its name suggests, it makes use of sound vibrations to increase the permeability of the tissue membrane, enhance healing and also reduces tissue scarring and adhesion.
Interferential makes use of electrical frequency signals to stimulate the nerves and muscles. It is also used to counter pain and produce muscle relaxation as well as reduce swelling. Shortwave Diathermy emits an electromagnetic field to produce heat to reach deep tissues, unlike the hot pack which is only superficial heating. Thus the heat is able to reach the deeper muscles, ligaments and vessels. Pulsed shortwave is used when the thermal effect is not desired, for example; post traumatic and operative conditions, acute inflammation and acute sports injuries; sprains and hematomas.
Scoliosis
Scoliosis is a medical condition in which a person’s spine is curved from side to side, shaped like an “s”, and may also be rotated. If left untreated, scoliosis leads to back pain, cosmetic deformities and restrictive pulmonary function. The available evidence suggests that early detection and treatment allows a more conservative treatment approach thus reducing the need for surgery.
Kinesis makes use of the latest technologies in spinal therapy and has produced encouraging results. Our special program include mirror-image traction, vibration therapy, ligament re-moulding, postural exercises, muscle strengthening and joint mobilisation.
Sports Injuries
Athletes of different disciplines all suffer from either a sprain or strain sometime during their training or competition.
At Kinesis, our physios diagnose and treat your injuries, help you get better and advise on how to avoid similar injuries in future. Our work includes examining and diagnosing injuries, identifying the cause of an injury and devising an individual treatment plan. A combination of manual therapy, therapeutic exercise and the application of electrotherapy will be used to promote a speedy recovery and reduce the chance of re-injury.
Clinical Pilates
Pilates is a body conditioning routine that seeks to build flexibility, strength, endurance, and coordination without adding muscle bulk. Pilates increases circulation and helps to sculpt the body and strengthen the body’s “core” muscles, which are essential in keeping our spine stable and reduce excessive loading onto the spine. In Kinesis, we have discovered the powerful combination of PowerPlate vibration and pilates. The effects far exceed doing just one or the other.
Swelling Management (Lymphatic Drainage)
The technique uses gentle stroke and pressure to encourage circulation as well as reduces swelling and water retention. The body’s lymphatic system consists of a complex network of lymph vessels and lymph nodes. Drainage in the right direction can help to bring down swelling and restore balance.
Stroke/Neuro Re-habilitation
“Stroke” is the common description used to describe the damage caused by either an interruption of blood supply or a hemorrhage into to a specific area of the brain. This causes the brain cells in the affected area to be damaged or die. The death of brain cells is the cause of the common symptoms of a stroke. The severity of the symptoms depends on the extent and location of the injury.
Physiotherapy helps to restore strength, sensory impairment, function, co-ordination and balance. During the initial stage where patient has difficulty in getting around, our physios provide home service at your convenience and in the comfort of your home.
Incontinence
Does your urine leak when you cough, laugh or run? Do not suffer in silence, seek treatment now. Pelvic floor muscle can become weaker as we age or due to the effects of menopause, sometimes the muscles are injured during vaginal delivery. At Kinesis, we have a rehabilitation program specifically designed to treat these problems. Our physiotherapist will assess the strength of your pelvic floor muscle, teach you the proper method of exercising and use electrical muscle stimulation to strengthen the pelvic floor muscle.
Kinesis offers in-house hydrotherapy.
The physical properties of water make it a highly desirable environment for the treatment of musculoskeletal injuries and back pain. The buoyancy of the water counteracts the effect of gravity, creating a weightless environment for the body which reduces the loads on the joints and allows movements to be performed with ease.
