Hi there
I’ve got a question regarding this pain I get whenever I gym my shoulders. I feel it on shoulder joint (like where my arm connects to my shoulder) and I only feel it on my right side. I only feel it when I exercise my shoulders at gym but I also feel it a bit when I do Dumbell Chest Presses.
It first started about 6 months ago. I stopped gymming then for 6 months for other reasons and now I’m back at gym and the pain is back.
Thank you for question. By the way you describe your pain, it sounds likean impingement problem. It’s got to do with the way you hold your shoulder in relation to your shoulder blade. Please watch your posture especially the position of your shoulder when you are carrying or pushing weights. Sometimes if the weight is too heavy we tend to round our shoulers forward that causes this pain to be more obvious. The pain will come on everytime you cause the muscle tendon to be caught in between the 2 bones in the shoulder.
I would ask you to see a physiotherapist for a proper assessment, or you could call for an appointment 6352 0800 and come and see us.
Sponylosis just means degeneration or wear and tear and it is on going. We do not speak about curing a wear and tear but it can be managed or slowed down. It can get worse if the rate of repair cannot catch with the degeneration and causes pain and disability.

I have suffered from pelvic instability for over 20 years. The only option I’ve been given is pelvic fusion. My ? is: How has this affliction affected my body? No one ever seems to want to talk about this.
Hi Jennifer,
Pelvic instability could arise due to various factors. One of which could be poor musculature around the pelvic/lumbar and abdominal region. Surgery of course is the last option, only if all other means of conservative treatment has been considered, undergone and failed. Pelvic fusion like any other surgery will have its risk factors. Your doctor should explain all the riskes to you before you agree to go ahead with the operation. As your doctor knows your condition the best, and the real cause of the instability he is in the best position to explain how it will affect your body. Without knowing actually which area of the pelvic you are having fused, it is very difficult for me to comment. If you are undergoing a sacro-iliac joint fusion, you will have restriction bending you spine back and forth. With any fusion operation, there will be a restriction of motion, depending on the joint that is being fused. Hope that helps. if you wish to talk about your fusion in detail, please give us a call 6352 0800

having lower back pain and hand numbness esp when i type. why is this so?
It’s difficult to diagnose your source of pain with such simple description of your symptoms. What we need is a comlete history of your symptoms, your social history, and your activities of daily living. Since you’re having this problem when you type, I would suggest to be aware of your posture, making sure you have proper back support and your head does not protrude forward. Please check the following link from the ministry of manpower on the proper sitting or standing posture.
Headache after rigorous training could be the result of many factors such as dehydration, oxygen deprivation, etc. Make sure you’re not pushing yourself too hard when your run. Please consult your GP if this problem persists.

hi,
I had a fall 4 months ago, thus had fracture of the trimeollar of the left ankle. I had done open reduction internal fixation (which means implanted plates and screws to support the tibia and fibula) I was doing well for partial weight bearing but when i started on full weight bearing a week ago. I could not do it cos I was walking unsteady, unbalanced and experience some level of pain when pressured on my ankle. I really do not know how to overcome my fear and walk unaided. Now I am walking with a walking frame.Do u think u can help me? Thank u
Since you’ve been walking partial weight bearing for the last 4 months, the muscles around your ankle will be weaker and the positional senses (proprioception) will be impaired. That is why you’re having difficulties when trying to walk unsupported. Without proper muscle control, your ankle will feel unstable and your balance will be off.
I’m very sure we can help you. The rehabilitation process that we offer here will emphasize on restoring the range of motion, strength, proprioception, of your ankle and gait training so that you’ll return to your daily activities sooner. Based on your conditions during the initial assessment, the treatment may consist of manual therapy which will help you regain mobility of your ankle, specific exercise program under supervision, and pain control by using modalities such as eletrotherapy or cold pack.
Please give us a call for an appointment because the rehabilitation process should start as early as possible for a better result and should not be delayed.

Hi,
I started on full weight bearing after the open reduction internal fixation done for my left trimeollar facture of the ankle n just manage to walk unaided very slow, however limps alot and very unsteady n not able to climb up stairs. So wat must I do?
May i know where is ur outlet? and do I need to bring along the Xray films before the physiotherapy?wat if Ido not have any films?
Our outlet is at Sinagpore Management University, which is near both City Hall and Doby Ghout MRT. We are in the Law and Accountancy Building B1-27. Please call us to make an appointment before coming down, our no. is 6352 0800. If you have the X-rays it would be good to have an idea how the bones have healed. However if your orthopeadic consultant said all is well and for you to walk normally, than no need for the X-rays. Hope to see you and get you walking better. Take care

I had a mastecomy 4 years ago and 10 lymp nodes removed. I had chemo and radiation and am presently taking tamoxafin. I get swelling in my had and arm and have been fitted for a sleeve and glove. However this does not seem to be reducing the swelling and the past week I have been experiencing aching in that arm. I tried using a messager but the arm still aches what do you suggest?
It is very important to check with your doctor first to make sure everything is okay and to find out the reason for the persistant swelling and ache in the arm. I would suggest lymph drainage if everything is well.

Hi May,
Unfortunately that is the largest size from the manufacturer themselves, in Japan. We are going to have some other shoes coming in called fitflops. They are from Eupore, sizes range from 5-10. Hope that helps.
